Anyone ever made Mexican hot chocolate before? I've never made it myself, but am eager to try. There's something so comforting about the sipping a mug of rich, warm hot chocolate. And if you ask me, the extra pinch of spice in the Mexican variety adds an extra oomph. I saw a
recipe in Real Simple I'm hoping to try soon.
Hot cocoa +
- 2 pinches ground chipotle pepper
- 2 pinches ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons whipped cream

Looks amazing, perfect ward off those winter blues.
It's my favorite kind of hot cocoa! I cheat and use Jacques Torres' Wicked Mix.
(I love spice and chocolate so much that I throw some cayenne into my brownies!)
Ooo never tried it!! It must have a nice kick to it tho!! =)

I've tried it, it's so warming, just the thing on a cold wintery day.
I have also used chilli powder which works for me too.
I've never had Mexican hot chocolate, but I love Mexican coffee which has similar spices. I'll have to try this!
That cup of hot chocolate looks absolutely amazing! We've made it before w/ Taza chocolate (http://www.tazachocolate.com/). This is the real deal stone-ground mexican style chocolate and they come in flavors like cinnamon, spicy, almond, etc and they're made in disc shape intentionally for hot choc making. Your post has inspired and I am going to have to do this while it's cold and blustery out! :)
I've made it using the Abuelita chocolate bars....yummy
Mexican hot chocolate is one of my favorite things. You should definitely give it a shot.
I had my first cup in Mexico City last week! It was goooood. Even better with a little piece of bread on the side.
