Emoi Emoi

A while ago, I was contacted by Emoi Emoi, a chic online French boutique specializing in comfortable and cozy maternity and nursing wear.  While I'm neither nursing nor pregnant at present,  I still can still vouch for and attest from experience that convenience, comfort are essential when it comes to maternity and nursing wear, and a hint of style never hurt anyone, right?  Especially during those early days when you're feeling far from glamorous...

The "Maman Poule" shirt, (which is unfortunately, they no longer carry).  Though here are some of their new sweatshirts, and if they're anything like the tees,  the softest fabric ever!  Here are some sweatshirts that are similar.  1 point for comfort!  Also, I liked this shirt for its French translation of "Mother Hen" quite fitting as we often refer to her as "Grumpy Goose" when she's fussy.  Plus it's a glamorous step up from the ratty t-shirts I often wore when nursing.  1 point for convenience and style!
My special delivery was wrapped in the cutest "packaging," a charming reusable tote.
Isn't this the cutest? Love the message too...
Check out Emoi Emoi for cozy, comfy maternity and nursing attire.  Here are a few of my favorites from the sight that I'm bookmarking for future reference.

Too Bright or Not Too Bright

I need some fashion advice, so I'm putting this question out to the blog.  I recently purchased these Nike Free tennis shoes on sale in this vibrant blue/orange combo, but I'm concerned they're a little too bright.    I guess I'm not used to wearing neon on my feet!  My husband claims this is the trend (at least among his CrossFit buddies).  Thoughts?

What's your opinion?  Keep or return?  I need some help!

Fair Isle

One of my favorite things about winter is cozy sweaters.  And of the cozy sweaters, I definitely LOVE fair isle sweaters.  Something about them, the thickness, the scratchy soft wool just screams Christmas for me!  This seasons it seems that fair isle is everywhere, which I love!  Here's a few fun fair isle finds from around the web.

+ fair isle cozy knit throw

+ fair isle poncho for baby

+ snowed in fair isle PJ's

+ fair isle sweater dress

+ contrast stripe fair isle scarf

+ fair isle earflap hat

+ fair isle baby tights

Any good fair isle finds you've found?

Pitch Perfect

I cannot tell you how much I LOVE Kate Middleton in this dress.  Wow!  The color, the cut, the lace, it is utter perfection.  I just wish I had a copy of this Jenny Packham gown hanging in my closet, it is simply stunning on the glamorous princess. Love, love, love her style!

The Belt Twist

I feel so behind on the trends. Does anyone actually buckle their belts anymore?
Everywhere I look the belt twist is happening.
And I feel a bit dorky admitting this, but as easy as this looks, I've found this stylish look is not so easy to replicate. Weird, I know. I've tried twisting, flipping, and curling various belts within my own wardrobe, but it never looks quite as effortlessly chic as these ladies...

Do you rock the belt twist? Any tips? Do tell..

Dancing Shoes

Check out my new kicks! These little guys are going to serve as my dancing shoes for the wedding. I've been on quite the shoe hunt for a while now, as you probably remember. As such, I still haven't quite figured out what shoes I'm wearing for actual wedding...

Who knows? Maybe I'll end up just sticking with these bad boys for comforts-sake. I'm definitely a wimp when it comes to uncomfortable shoes.

Regardless, I'm pretty excited about these shoes, aren't they darling?

Sweet Heart

Isn't this the cutest tee for V-Day?

Clothing Cleanse

I'm in the process of cleaning my closet and purging the clothes I no longer wear. As I'm doing this, I'm realizing I'm finding many more "What was I thinking? Why did I buy this?" items than long lost treasures I simply misplaced. Hmm... You know your clothes are no longer the height of fashion when even the consignment store won't take them! I experienced this over the weekend when I took a heaping load of clothing to Buffalo Exchange, and walked away with more than half of my items. (Insert sad face here).

Hopefully this clothing "cleanse," will help me make better wardrobe choices in the future. Here's hoping...

Wednesday Pretty

Glam 101 at the Golden Globes. Simple, glamorous, and chic. I think Emma Stone may be the newest "it girl," circa Julia Roberts after Pretty Woman. Anyone else think so? I just watched her in Easy A, which was really entertaining.

All About Braids

The braids are back in town! All over the blogosphere and in magazines, braids seem to be popping up left and right. As a kid, my mom used to French braid my sisters and my hair all the time, and despite much practice, I have never been able to braid my own hair as good as she braided mine.

However, these Heidi-braids make me want to bust out braids all over again!

This Book is Clutch!

Love these! Kate Spade has re-imagined our favorite reads into clever book clutches! This one is my personal fave. Loving the bright lemon yellow as well as the title - Great Gatsby was an AP English favorite of mine!

Toms Anyone?

Anyone heard of the recent shoe phenomenon, Toms? I admit I was a little out of the "shoe loop." While away on my Vegas girls getaway, 2 of my fashion-savvy friends raved endlessly about these shoes. Personally, I thought they were a little...well, not cute. But apparently what they lack in aesthetic appeal they make up in comfort.

I might just have to mosey on down to Nordstrom to buy a pair. Any Tom's fans out there?

The September Issue

In case you haven't heard of it yet - The September Issue is the real story behind The Devil Wears Prada. It's a documentary following esteemed Vogue editor Anna Wintour for several months as the magazine prepares to put out their legendary September issue. If you're like me and go, "Why is the September issue so special?" Let me tell you...this issue is the trendsetter, and kicks off the next season of fashion, trends, and all that is to follow.

Having read The Devil Wears Prada and owning the movie, I was curious to see if the movie was true to form. While she's got a flat affect, she doesn't seem to fill the shoes as the cold-hearted "Ice Woman" Meryl Streep played in the movie.

Ultimately, I found it interesting and fun documentary (especially since I'm not usually one for documentaries). Check it out!

Yellow

I've really been into the all things yellow lately...not sure if it's my wishful thinking that Spring will come early, or just I've been seeing bursts of yellow in storefront windows and I'm feeling inspired. Now let me preface by saying, yellow is not really my color. Blue and green are my go-to colors. If I find a top I adore, I'll usually pick it up in one of those colors because on my fair coloring, it works. Yellow on the other hand, often does not!

As I was collecting these pictures I pondered, I really don't own many pieces of clothing with yellow in them. Now that I mentally count, I can think of well...3. But lately I've been really intrigued, inspired, and motivated to try on all things yellow.

What is your go-to color?

crewcuts

How could you not love J. Crew's crewcuts catalog. Man I wish I had they had stylish options like this around when I was a kid. I'd be rockin' my tartan, scarves, and bright colors all through elementary school!

Dressing Green

Go green like Ginnifer Goodwin! At a recent event she wore a dress made of recycled hospital scrubs. Who knew this unorthodox material could be such an exquisite gown? The best part, this dress was made by students from the Academy of Art students. Way to support budding talent and a good cause!

To Sleeve or Not to Sleeve

To sleeve or not to sleeve - that is the question. According to stylists, Ivanka Trump may be bringing back the sleeved wedding dress. When Miss Trump contacted Vera Wang to design her wedding gown, she requested sleeves to suit her Orthodox ceremony. Wang then channeled icons past who had donned sleeves for their weddings, and modeled Ivanka's gown after Grace Kelly's, invoking the traditional and elegant "lace and royal factor."

I have to say, I kind of like the look. With my friends all buzzing with engagements, dress shopping, and wedding planning, I think in the end "unique," translates to "memorable." Kudos to Ivanka for stepping outside the trend box, who knows she might have even started a trend herself!

Mad for Mad Men

I'm mad about Mad Men! The vintage 60's clothes are reason enough to watch the show. In fact, my friend Anna is already planning her Mad Men secretary costume for this coming Halloween. I'm currently catching up on Season 2 in eager anticipation for Season 3 that just begun. Check out the sweet pics from the series here!
