Engagement Photos: Part 2

Love.

Trial Run

Today is a big day. It's my wedding hair and makeup trial run, followed by our engagement photo shoot! I've been scouring through photos and magazines trying to come up with the perfect hairdo, and photo shoot outfits for weeks now. Now I just hope it all comes together as planned!

Cross your fingers and pray for no rain!

Engagement Photo Shoot

Loving this carnival engagement shoot! Wouldn't that be a fun way to spend a day (and have it all be photographed)? Popcorn, cotton candy, and ferries wheel kisses. :)

Wednesday Pretty

Love this engagement photo shoot of a lovely New York City couple frolicking around Central Park picnic basket and tea party in tow.

Engagement Love

More engagement photo shoot love. I love the easy going, laid back nature of these photos. Natural, relaxed, beautiful love!

P.S. If you see any other great engagement photo spreads on blogs, please send them my way, I'm all about collecting inspiration for our Springtime shoot!

Engagement Photo Inspiration

We booked a photographer for our wedding!! I am so smitten with them and thrilled they had our date free. Since I'm a total list maker, being able to check to-do's off my wedding list is so exciting. As with my wedding excitement grows, combined with the luxury of being on Winter Break, I'm reading wedding blogs like it's my J.O.B.!

But of course before the wedding photos comes the engagement photos. I've got about a hundred links in my favorite tab on my web browser. Here's one of my faves, such a darling engagement session. Perfect for a holiday engagement!

Love Notes

My sister bought me this cute CB2 mini chalkboard as an engagement gift. It's perfect for writing love notes to my fiancee. We've already been using it to write notes back and forth. Especially since we get up at different times in the morning for work, it's a fun way to say "I love you," before breakfast.

The Engagement Story

Okay, time for the details!! I'm still floating on Cloud 9 thinking about the fact that I'M ENGAGED!!!!!!! It's been a whirlwind 48 hours of pure bliss.

So, the morning of the engagement, it was a gorgeous, crisp Saturday - no rain clouds in sight, but a touch of wind. He and I went to my favorite French bakery for a late breakfast and picked up some croissants to take later for a picnic at the park. We drove to Carkeek Park (for those of you who aren't familiar - this is a beautiful park in North Seattle that has a little bit of everything, wooded trails through the forest, beach access to Puget Sound, and stunning bluffs that overlook the mountains all in one).

First we took a stroll down to the beach, but the windy was blowing so crazy, I felt like we were going to blow away. (I later found out, he had wanted to propose on the beach, but the wind had kind of "blown" that plan - haha, pun intended).

So we continued back up through the picturesque trails, chatting and walking hand in hand with our coffees. We walked up this steep trail to a beautiful clearing that overlooked the sea, the mountains - and it was in a protected nook so we were sheltered from the blustery wind. We sat down on one of the picnic benches and ate our croissants and talked, and just as we were about to leave, he stopped and said, "Before we go, I need to ask you a question." Now he says my eyes went WIDE and I froze, as he got down on one knee and told me all these wonderful lovey-dovey things and then popped the big question, "Will you marry me?"

Of course I said yes, and he took my glove off and put the gorgeous ring on my finger. It was so exciting and overwhelming, I started smiling and don't think I've stopped since. I surprisingly didn't cry, but I think I was just so stunned and excited I didn't even think of it! We hugged and kissed and hugged some more, and then ran to the warm car to call everyone.

The best part was after we shared our big news, we came back to our house where he had flowers and champagne waiting, and we just got to kick back and enjoy our new status as "engaged fiances," for a few hours all to ourselves. Later, we went out to a romantic dinner at one of our favorite restaurants and then met up with friends to celebrate at another friend's birthday party.

It truly was the best day, and I'm so excited for what lies ahead!! Thanks for all the kind wishes and excited reactions - we am so lucky in love and couldn't be happier!!

Congratulations!

I'm so excited for my good friend and sorority sister Carol (of Everyday Delights) - who just got engaged on Saturday. Her fiance Nick coordinated the entire affair, organizing all of his and her friends together to witness and celebrate the surprise proposal. It was so exciting to be able to be there to partake in this momentous occasion. Carol was completely surprised, and we couldn't be happier for this fabulous couple!

Cupcake Shoot

This past weekend I spent a good chunk of my Saturday sitting at a Cupcake inspired cafe eating red velvet minis while writing report card comments.

While my friend and I were hard at work, a couple sat down at the table next to us, and almost immediately a photographer appeared out of nowhere, snapping away at the two as they nibbled their cupcakes. Turns out it was an engagement photo shoot. Without invitation, we found ourselves front row spectators for the happy couple's sweet shoot. The lovebirds kissed, held hands, and smiled at each other adoringly over maple frosted cupcakes. They even got a little playful, dabbing a little frosting on each others noses, it was pretty cute!

Initially, I thought a cupcake cafe was an unusual place for an engagement shoot, but it seems creative locations are the trend right now. These days people celebrate their engagement by playing on swings, jumping on trampolines, playful poses, and accessorizing with lollipops. I guess the moral of the story is: there is no limit to creativity!
