Aren't these blackbird soaps the cutest?

Whenever I'm in a new restroom, I usually scope out soaps and such on display while I'm washing my hands, just to see if there are any sweet smelling products worth buying myself.

These darling little blackbirds caught my eye as I thought, wouldn't these look so sweet perched on my soap dish. Plus they're natural and locally sourced, and the coolest part... there is a white ceramic bird hiding inside. What a keepsake!

Knit Graffiti

Have you ever heard of knit graffiti? I hadn't until recently, and I think it's pretty cool. Definitely better than regular old vandalizing paint graffiti if you ask me. Have you seen any knit graffiti pop up in your city? Seattle seems to be absent of any to my knowledge, perhaps artists are afraid their art will get bogged down by the rain. Ho hum.

Now I need to learn to knit so I can contribute to this public art movement...

Amazing Renovations

Have you ever heard of Sixx Design? They turned this... into this...Pretty fantastic, huh? There's been a log of blogworthy buzz about this New York based design and development firm. The coolest part: they're a husband and wife team with 7 kids, who've found a genuine passion in finding dilapidated, condemned housing, gutting, and renovating them into masterful works of art. Piano Stairs

Need some inspiration to take the stairs? Check out this clever installation in Stockholm, Sweden. A subway staircase was cleverly turned into working piano keys! Such a creative idea, this would definitely inspire me to take the stairs versus the escalator!

Honey Do

I attribute my intrigue in design details to my 2-year stint as a graphic design major in college. While I've always been told, "Don't judge a book by its cover," I think I am more susceptible to judging a product by its cover - or appealing logo/design. I'm digging Waitrose Honey; clean, clever, with a simple striped bee holding his own as the "e" in honey. Who knows if it's any good - this packaging alone gives this product clearance for my pantry!

Subway Chic

Sadly, I've realized that my wishing Seattle had a subway system is a lost cause. After our monorail fiasco, a subway in the Emerald City will likely materialize when pigs fly. I love the convenience of this mode of transport - when visiting friends in NYC it made for an effortless connection between destination A & B...and no designated drivers necessary.

In the mean time, I guess I can indulge in subway inspired accessories. Fancy a clutch of the London underground? Green designer Ecoist features a collection of clutches and household items that can only be described as subway chic.

Grand Central Freeze

This weekend a friend introduced me to this popular youtube clip - Grand Central Freeze. As an undergrad art history major I've had my fair share of observing art installations - but this one is pretty impressive. Shout out to ImprovEverywhere, the 70-person NYC improv group that pulled off this monumental and artistic stunt (among others) around the city - kudos! I wish I'd been in Grand Central terminal to see this hilarity in person.
