Snapshots from the Weekend

This Sunday, with the crisp air and the sun out, we thought it was the perfect day for a hike. The nice thing about Seattle is we're just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the mountains, where there are endless hiking trails for the picking. We met up with some friends and their dogs and headed up the snowy trail at Rattlesnake Ridge. We ended up not getting too far up the steep trail because of the densely packed snow, but we took a stroll around beautiful Rattlesnake Lake instead. What a fun day outdoors!

P.S. Don't you love the last photo? I was cold, so I swapped my Lulu headband for B's hat, so he sported the thing for all of 2 minutes, just enough time for me to get a photo opp.

Frozen Falls

This weekend my boyfriend and I went to hike around Snoqualmie Falls, which has frozen in the unusually chilly Seattle weather. It was fascinating, aside from a steady stream of falls, most of the water has underneath and around the waterfall has frozen into frigid icicles. Snoqualmie Falls is a popular Seattle-area tourist attraction in the summer time, but turns out it's equally gorgeous in Winter!

Bike Thoughts?

I'm going shopping for a new bike next week with my dad. I haven't had a bicycle of my own since I owned one with pink over-sized handlebars, pedal brakes, and a banana seat, so needless to say, it's been a while. This time around, I'm looking for a bicycle that's equipped for riding distances. I'm kind of a novice in this area, any suggestions?

Long Weekend

I can now say I've been to the Midwest! I took a long weekend and jetted back to "the middle" with my boyfriend for some Big-10 football! We hit up his alma mater, Purdue University for their big rivalry game versus I.U.

It was such a fun weekend, we toured the campus, enjoyed the college bar scene, tailgated with the best of them, and cheered on the victorious Boilermakers, winning (62-10)! After watching a dissapointing season of Washington football, it was nice to enjoy a winning team for once! Aside from the below freezing temperatures (brrr, which I am so not used to), it was an amazing weekend!

On Sunday we rose early to drive back to Chicago and spent the afternoon enjoying some deep dish pizza and seeing the sights. This morning I am a little exhausted, but it's definitely worth it!

Crash & Burn

This weekend my friends and I took advantage of the glorious Seattle weather (cloudless skies and high 80's/low 90's) and went on out the boat for some quality wakeboarding. Wakeboarding for those of you who aren't familiar is essentially being pulled on a snowboard like contraption behind a boat. The water was intensely choppy due to the fact that every time there's sun in Seattle, everyone takes full advantage - scrambling to secure a spot in it's wake. As such, the boats on the lake were plentiful (to say the least).

Our wakeboarding adventure turned was fabulous - sans my unbelievable crash and burn. This faceplant was legendary, I don't think I've ever fallen so hard in my life! Let me give you a visual to sum up the crashing and burning that was had.

WHAT TO DO...This is what a wakeboarder should look like...WHAT NOT TO DO...This is about what I looked like (I imagine)Try at your own risk!

Before This Year Is Up...

I want to...take a hot air balloon ride,

muster up the guts to go skydiving,

and go zip-lining (somewhere)!

With all this fabulous sunshine, and no definite summer travel plans - I feel like I need some adventure...anyone want to join me in any of these endeavors?

Little Red Bike

I really want a vintage bike like this one, with the old fashioned pedal brakes and basket. Today in the early morning, I can already tell it's the perfect day for a bike ride along the beach. Breezy, sunny, and warm.

When in Vail

I just returned from a lovely little getaway to the sunny slopes of Vail, Colorado with my family. We spent our days skiing in fresh powder, and nights ambling about town, window shopping and doing some quality eating.Though I perhaps do not fit all the qualifications, I consider myself a foodie. My definition being - I genuinely enjoy food; the aromas, flavors and the delicious samplings of gourmet cuisine. So fellow foodies, When in Vail...dine at Larkspur! The food at Larkspur had inventive flavor combinations, gorgeous presentation, and was undeniably delicious! Check out the menu for a glimpse. Just to share with you a taste, my dining experience began with the blue hubbard squash and gala apple soup, followed by the heritage farm pork chop served with smoked gouda grits and pomegranate-pistachio relish...and we capped off the night with a lovely dark chocolate fondue. Yum!

So, as I said before - when in Vail...INDULGE! Turns out, there's more here than just skiing!
