The Gossip Returns

Who is excited for the fall return of Gossip Girl? I am, I am! Can't believe the CW is making us wait until September 14th, but this season is dripping with drama, tantalizing new story lines, love triangles, hot outfits, and of course, plenty of gossip.

Pretty in Pink

I want this dress!! Once again, Gossip Girl Blave Lively, looking fabulous as usual in a pink strapless Michael Kors confection at the CFDA awards in New York City. I'd like to raid her closet...

She Sings?

And another one bites the dust! Yes my friends, it's true. Queen Bee of Gossip Girl, Leighton Meester has tweaked her resume to now read actress and SINGER. Have a listen to her duet with Awesome New Republic. It's very Gossip Girl. What do you think?

Gossip For a Reason

It's amazing to me how interchangeable the relationships are on this show. After last night's episode, I'm convinced "Gossip Girl" should be renamed "boyfriend-girlfriend swap," or something to that effect. It goes something like this...

He's with me, oh wait...
(Terrible break-up)
Now, he's with you..

Drama ensues...
Wait a minute, he's with her?

Gossip, gossip, profanity, gossip
(Kiss and make-up)
Back together,
I can't believe he did that,
Yep, once again, back with you
Wait, wait, okay, caught up now...

Not that I don't enjoy the drama, just observing...

You Know You Love Me...

If you haven't gotten hooked yet, it's only a matter of time...Gossip Girl is my favorite guilty indulgence. Mondays at 8:00 pm, you will typically find me camped out in front of my television, awaiting the juicy drama of Upper Eastside high school girls to unfold. You don't believe me? ...I dare you to tune in. XOXO.

Lively

Another fab photo shoot of Gossip Girl's #1 - Blake Lively. I don't know how this glam girl manages to look so sophisticated and chic at only 21, but Vogue manages to capture her glamorous old world style. I think it has something to do with the long blond hair...

Lively One

I may just be Gossip Girl's biggest fan - this guilty pleasure of a TV show is my favorite Monday night treat. Take a gander at this lovely upper-Eastside "it-girl," Blake Lively, latest covergirl of W Magazine.

At a mere 21 years of age, she seems to possess the poise, grace and glamor of an old-fashioned Hollywood starlet...and, it doesn't hurt that she has luxuriously fabulous hair!

The Moves

Anyone watch Gossip Girl last night? Looks like Lil J is destined for the dark side...unless white knight Nate can straighten her course. Yes, I know this GG image wasn't from last night's episode, but it got me thinking. What is it that TV, movies, basically every entertainment avenue cashes in on this move: the guy "helping" or demonstrating to the girl the "correct" moves to hit a cue ball, swing a golf club, throw a football, or basically anything semi-sporty. Meanwhile the girl demurely feigns ignorance, and blissfully bats their eyes. I'm curious to know, has anyone ever had this move tried on them? Or even better - fallen for this move? I'd really like to know!

XOXO

For all you lovers of Gossip Girl...it is a my ultimate guilty pleasure. If you haven't yet had the privilege, it is frivolous, fabulous, and full of...well, gossip. After a long day at work, this is the perfect TV show to take my mind off reality.

Anyone excited for next week? Looks like S is back to steal B's reign. This gossip is getting juicier by the season. Love it! XOXO.

Girls Who Gossip

Front and center - yet again, my fave GG's, Leighton Meester and Blake Lively hamming it up on the latest edition of Nylon. The XOXO girls gush about their faux rivalry, eccentric fashion, and spout oh-so-intellectual quotes about their endeavors.

“Serena is more thrown together and effortless and doesn’t really care, and is just like, has this sexiness to her without trying, and Blair is really uptight and conservative and put together and everything has to be perfect, you know Chuck is kind of cocky and he’s just like, I don’t know, a prick." - Leighton, on Gossip Girl style.

Critical Review

Most of the TV shows I follow, (sans LOST) are easy-to-watch, frivolous indulgences, that are usually appealing for one of the following reasons...
a). great fashion
b). juicy plot twists
c). catty girl drama

These shows are my guilty pleasures, part of my end of the day rest and relax routine. However, I find it amusing to read how the critics interpret my gossip-ridden girly shows. Here's what the NY Times has to say about a few of my favorites: Gossip Girl, The Hills, and the Real Housewives of NYC.

"Gossip Girl” focuses on worldly little girls who join forces against one another. The series, along with such like-minded shows as the MTV semireality show “The Hills” and a cautionary senior edition, “The Real Housewives of New York City,” are focused on friends, and most of all on frenemies. They are so postfemininist that they circle back not just to “Mean Girls,” but to the pre-Friedan era of Clare Boothe Luce and Rona Jaffe.

Thanks to Brilliant Asylym for the heads up on the article. Pretty entertaining.

Closet Wanted

The Gossip Girl finale was such a tease. In a nutshell, directors took every preexisting couple, shuffled, and dealt out new pairings who we assume will stand the test of time (which in this world is equivalent to the summer). Not much was settled, or accomplished, or even discussed really...but the fashion was great! Check out Serena's maid o'honor dress, pretty sweet (minus the ruffles), and Blair was looking angelically pretty in pink. Wouldn't it be nice to wake up to a closet like this? You know you love it. XOXO.

Guilty Pleasure

Yes...thats right, Gossip Girl. Gossip Girl is a fledgling TV series, reemerging after the writer's strike with a vengeance. One of my younger sisters actually first introduced me to Gossip Girl, via the original idea - a popular book series (consider it a racier version of the Sweet Valley High books). The show - loosely based upon the book series - is edgy, entertaining, and boasts a cast of beautiful people wearing glamorous clothes.

I'm beginning to think maybe it's a nostalgic notion. I consider Gossip Girl to be a guilty Monday-night pleasure, perhaps because it reminds me of the plot thickening drama, lust, and lies of retired favorite - Beverly Hills, 90210.
