Foodie Friday - Figs

I made this fig pizza for dinner last night, and it was fabulous (if I do say so myself). I followed the recipe fairly closely, I substituted whole-wheat dough, and omitted the prosciutto (only because I forgot to pick it up at the grocery story). Nonetheless, the ingredients on hand still came together to make a tasty little concoction. My favorite part of the mix was the balsamic vinegar-brown sugar reduction, the sweetened syrup really brought out the flavors in the figs.

Foodie Friday - Key Lime

There's something tart and tangy about the flavor of Key Lime. While most associate it with the meringue topped pie, the flavor is multi-faceted and can be a fabulous flavor infusion to other dishes, including this - grilled swordfish skewers with coconut, key lime, and green chile sauce. Now this is the way to keep it tart and spicy!

Foodie Friday - Key Lime

Here's another great key lime recipe, pack the extra limes and your seafood and prepare for a 4th of July feast with grilled salmon with key lime butter for a simple yet flavorful marinade.

Foodie Friday - Root beer

Here's another great root beer recipe - pumpkin pancakes with root beer syrup, apparently root beer is quite the glaze when reduced for 40+ minutes. Depending on how long I sleep in Sunday morning, I may attempt to make these this weekend!

Foodie Friday - Root Beer

It's that time of the week again - the second week of my new blog tradition, Foodie Friday. Lately I've had a serious hankering for some root beer. Something about it, the sweetness, the carbonation, it's a satisfying beverage I just can't ignore. Ever thought to use root beer in cooking? Turns out there's quite a few recipes using this bubbly treat, including spicy root beer and bourbon glazed baby back ribs...yum!
