Shelve By Color
Tuesday, December 30, 2008
I usually organize by books by type. Education books - shelf one. Children's books - shelf two. "Beach reads" - shelf three, etc. etc. Don't know if I would ever be able to locate the book I was looking for with this organizational tactic, but it certainly has some aesthetic appeal... image/freshome

Looks like a rainbow by colour, looks pretty as an installation but i wouldn't be able to find a thing!
I organize pretty much like you do.
thanks for stopping by my blog!

oh i love this! my boyfriend would give me so much crap if i did that though. i already get made fun of for having my closet color coded! :)
95% of the reading materials in my house are magazines, all architectural/design and all basically the same colour. I have about 3 percent colourful, interesting looking art/design/architecture books, and the other 2% are all white-spined, serious looking books on architectural discourse, urban design and sociology.
In short, my bookshelves are the epitome of boring. I dream of having enough colourful books to colour code! One day...
hey Lovely Little Things, I'm interested in this photo and in a similar photo made by you (same bookshelf, same sofa but with a dog). can I use it for designing a postcard? the postcard advertises our strictly non-commercial communitiy radio in dresden, germany: http://coloradio.org (we don't earn any money with our radio).
