It's peony season everyone. I saw and swooned over dozens of these lovely stems down at Pike Place Market last weekend. Life is beautiful once again!image/apartmenttherapy
Fresh Flowers
Tuesday, April 21, 2009
One of life's little pleasures is buying fresh flowers. I currently have 2 bunches of two-toned tulips on display in my humble abode, fresh from the tulip festival. I couldn't resist buying just one bunch, so I splurged and bought 3, one vase for the kitchen, one vase for the living room, and one for my mom who I had brunch with on Sunday.Ranauculus are one of my most favorite flowers, among my other top faves, peonies, gardenias, and sunflowers. While I wouldn't turn down a dozen red roses, I find I like the "just picked from the garden" look a little more.
What are your fave flowers?

Totally Tulips
Monday, April 20, 2009
Saturday was a gorgeous day in the greater Seattle area, and the tulip festival was fabulous. Turns out we sought out the tulip fields a week too early, but the daffodils bright and lovely, and in full bloom. My boyfriend was wonderful and obligingly took many photos of our Spring day in the fields.

(Going for a funny picture, hiding in the daffodil fields).

Love the Sun

Sun, Beautiful Sun
Monday, March 30, 2009
Yesterday was a GORGEOUS day in Seattle. After months (literally months) of cold, rain, ice, and snow (very uncharacteristic of March), we had a day of glorious sunshine. I made the most of the day, and spent the entire afternoon outside, and saw many pretty pink cherry blossoms. Hopefully we'll have many more lovely days to come...image/ffffound
Spring Fever
Thursday, March 19, 2009
Seattle is slowly defrosting, the sun is peeking out a little more by the day. After a chilly 30-degree February & March, spring is literally just around the corner, and I couldn't be happier!image/ohappyday
Peonies Please
Friday, April 18, 2008
Peonies are one of my favorite things about Spring. They are one of those flower breeds that always appears in bloom, even when just budding. I bought a gorgeous bouquet of peonies and sunflowers at Trader Joe's a few days ago for $4.99, and they've been brightening up my kitchen window all week!image/twelve22
Spring Has Arrived!
Thursday, March 20, 2008
Hooray! Winter is officially over - although given our recent weather in Seattle, I might revise that statement and say it has ended in spirit, not necessarily in weather...image/tinymcsmall

Almost Spring
Tuesday, February 26, 2008
With all these blue cloudless skies I feel like Spring is just around the corner. Being the art history nerd I am, I thought I'd share one of my favorite paintings that reminds me of the soon to be changing of seasons. When I was little my Mom used to find and hang various paintings of young children playing outdoors (a subtle tribute to her three daughters). This John Singer Sargent painting, Carnation Lily, Lily Rose, has always reminded me of those familiar prints that used to hang in our family room. The the beauty of the blooming garden is perfectly accented with the warm glow of the just-lit lanterns illuminating the girls faces. This is my ode to Spring, may it come soon!
