Quote of the Week

Success
"To laugh often and much
to win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;
to earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
to appreciate beauty;
to find the best in others;
to leave the world a bit better,
whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch
or a redeemed social condition;
to know even one life has breathed easier
because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.

Thank you so much for posting this today! I'm a 1st year teacher, and just had my post-observation meeting with my principal. It was full of feedback on how I need to work better to manage my (extremely!) difficult crew. I refuse to send kids out of my room to the office when I know it will not impact their behaviors, and my principals differs in her opinion. This was a well timed reminder that even if its just for 1 week, or a day, or even just 5 minutes, I *am* finding successes with my students.
