If I Went To...New York City

Lately I've been dreaming of planning a trip back to the ever-exciting, ever-intriguing, New York City.  My sister and I were back for a day last Spring just before our youngest sister's graduation, but it was not nearly enough time.

On my dream vacation (with an unlimited budget, of course) I would stay at The Hotel on Rivington, I mean, wow!  Along with a visit by Balthazar Bakery for some hazelnut hot chocolate and a croissant, a stroll through Brooklyn Bridge Park, and dinner at Prune, cheffed by the author of my fave latest reads, Blood, Bones, and Butter.

What are your favorite things to do in New York City?
A girl can never have too many suggestions for a dream trip...

If I Went to South Africa...

...I'd dream to stay at the Singita Lebombo Lodge on the Kruger National Park, one of the largest game reserves in Africa. Isn't this remarkable? These 15 suites are built into a clifftop overlooking the Nwanetsi river, with sweeping views of the Lebombo mountains and surrounding bush. You could literally spot the wildlife from your bedroom window!
An African safari is a dream trip of mine.
What's your dream trip?*
*A trip you must/need/wish to make in your life

If I Went to Machu Picchu...

Machu Picchu has been the top of my travel list for a while now. It's a destination full of so much history and mystery, I can't wait to get there someday! And when I get there, I'd want to stay here...The Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge. Can you image having this view when you wake up in the morning? Priceless...

If I Went To...Norway

Lately I've been travel dreaming about new places to visit, and Norway is topping my list. I have yet to dapple in Scandinavia, and I think Norway is just the ticket. Lodging in the remote, rustic chic Storfjord Hotel, hiking through jutting fjords and dramatic gorges, biking alongside pristine lakes, maybe even an adventurous glacier safari. And let's not forget, a hike to Preikestolen, for a picnic with an amazing view.

If I Went To...Patagonia

There is something mysterious and magical about the wilds of Patagonia. While many parts of this region are fairly remote, I still feel it's a place of such natural awe-inspiring wonder and beauty, it definitely merits a visit. If I went to Patagonia, I think I'd like to stay in an estancia and try horseback riding alongside the gauchos to embrace the full Patagonian experience!

Anyone else ever dreamed of going here?

If I Went To...Cadaqués

If I went to Cadaqués, Spain, I'd want to stay here! One of my former colleagues vacationed in this gorgeous Catalonian town on her honeymoon, and her pictures were blissful! I've been to Spain once before, but it consisted of a just a few short days in Barcelona. Now that this seaside town is on my radar, I'm already wander-lusting about enjoying Catalonian cuisine and relaxing in the Spanish sun at the beach!

Anyone ever been?

Travel Dreams: If I Went To...Colorado

Anyone ever indulged in log cabin luxe? While my log cabin days are limited to summer camp, I'd love to trek on down to rural Colorado and set up camp in one of these luxury log cabins at Dunton Hot Springs. Doesn't this look amazing? Rustic yet plus and utterly beautiful.images/duntonhotsprings

Travel Dreams: If I Went to Amsterdam...

...I'd stay here. The Dylan Hotel in Amsterdam looks like a nice little place to lay your head while touring this bustling city on a bicycle. I visited Amsterdam for a few days in Summer 2005 with girlfriends, and we forfeited much of our adventure to jet-lag being it was our first stop in Europe.

If I go back, I'd love to stay at a swanky place like the Dylan, sip cocktails in the ivy clad courtyard, and hop a bicycle and trek the city to its fullest.

If I Went To...Sussex

If I went to East Sussex...I'd want to stay here! I've only been to England once - and that was London proper. If I ever venture back to Great Britain, I'd like to explore beyond the outskirts of London town and enjoy the lovely lush countryside.I was drawn to this little abode by it's welcoming brick exterior and pleasantly unruly gardens, bursting with green. The interior looks cozy as well, I love the staircase detailing, red and blue tiled floor, the warm yellow paint, and of course the clawfoot tub! Sign me up!
