Can you guys believe it's June?! Where has 2019 gone, seriously!! We're full swing into end-of-the-school-year mode around here, and it's bittersweet as my oldest is finishing a 3-year chapter at her beloved pre-school. We're sad to move on from dedicated teachers and dear friends, but excited for what lies ahead. What are you up to this week?

Hello, hello. Sorry my blog has been a bit neglected in the past two weeks. First, me grandma passed away, which was a devastating loss. She was an amazing, wonderful woman who had a long, happy life until the end. Although we knew it was coming, the loss still hits you like a punch in the gut. And in spite of that sadness, life goes on...

We had a busy, busy weekend, I hosted an already planned Beautycounter open house, had a long overdue brunch with my college girlfriends, and then my son caught a stomach bug. He's on the mend, but we're all a little tired - emotionally and physically - as we shift back into gear for the week.

+ took a break from my go-to rerun show to binge this in a manner of days. I just loooove John Krasinski, and I thought he did great in an action role.

+ reading and thinking about this candid advice on raising teenage girls (wise wisdom, bookmarking this for later).

+ just finished this amazing book...seriously amazing. like top 5 reads of my life! in depth post to follow (p.s. I listened to the audiobook which I highly recommend, the first narrator's voice was so eloquent and hypnotically captivating).

+ made this for dinner this week to kick off fall, and it was a surprising hit with my kids who historically haven't been fans of soup.

+ did you hear, there's going to be a downton abbey movie?! am I the last to know?

+ taking notes on yet another one of ashley's amazing travelogues, have you ever been to puglia?

We just got back from a fun weekend of camping with friends, and are gearing up for a busy week! Back to school is in the air? Freshly sharpened bouquets of pencils anyone? (Name that movie!).

+ just finished reading this book, and started this one

+ diffusing these this oil for a calm, zen vibe

+ just discovered these snack bars (less sugar + more protein than kind bars + D/GF)

+ just started using this shampoo, it has a subtle ginger ale scent (sounds weird but smells nice)

+ just started watching this funny show, I'm digging it

+ loving this dress for my girl for back to school

Summer is in full swing. Our sleep schedules slowly shifting to accommodate a teensy weensy bit of sleeping in, the skies are dry (well, most days), the air is warm (again, well...most days), and summer solstice is upon us. Around Seattle, the skies were a pinky gray until about 9:45 last night. Oh, how I love this time of year!

After a packed Wednesday of back to back play outings with friends and a car service, which involved unbuckling and rebuckling two carseats approximately six times, which is an exhausting feat in itself. Basically, what I'm getting at is we were due for a low key, stay-at-home-morning. We did a lot of nothing. My floors littered with toys and the laundry is piling up, but we have nowhere to be until the afternoon, and honestly, it's kind of glorious. Here are some other things we've been up to...

+ amused by the "most instagrammable {non-touristy} spots in Seattle"

+ been enjoying this summery watermelon wheat beer

+ posted about my fave new paleo, vegan, dairy-free chocolate indulgence on my blog's new instagram

+ downloaded this new audiobook and I'm loving it

+ trying out this new local coffee at home

+ just started season 2 of this show (love me some Mike Colter)

+ started reading this book (I absolutely adored book #1, eh on book #2, and so far, book #3 seems promising).

How are you?? Have a good weekend? We enjoyed a leisurely weekend of kids' birthday parties, soccer games, brunch with friends, and sunny skies. All in all, a good one.

+ just watched this movie based on a true story this past weekend (I love Jessica Chastain)

+ just started this book per it's mention on the ted radio hour podcast

+ loving this new lipstick in "first date" and this lip gloss in "peony" (not sticky with a subtle hint of mint)

+ also recently finished an epic binge of homeland (seasons 3-7)...phew, I need a break

+ this essential oil is in the mail, pretty excited to test it out

+ looking forward to the royal wedding and this lifetime version of their romance

Life has been keeping me busy lately, sadly putting this blog on the back burner. It's the end of the school year, the sun is out which means happy hours, dinners on the patio, and less time ticking away at my computer. This post is my effort to "catch up," if you will.

My husband and I took a mini road trip to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival a few weeks ago. It was the perfect day; after a few straight weeks of rain, the sun was gloriously shining, and tulip fields were bursting with vibrant color and in full bloom. What a beautiful day!

The Descendants - have you seen it? Pull out a big old box of Kleenex for this one. Definitely rentable.

Kickball season is in full swing! My friends and I have been playing together on a team every spring for 5 years now - it's quite the tradition! We're back-to-back champions so we've got quite a title to defend this year.

My good friend and co-worker hosted a Bingo fundraiser for a her educational non-profit, Project Kesho in Tanzania. I'd forgotten how fun Bingo is, why don't I play more often!?! And to top if off; I won a bottle of champagne in the raffle AND a gift card to Taco Time for Bingo, woohoo!

I'm reading a few books right now (The Marriage Plot and The Unhealthy Truth), but I just downloaded Fifty Shades of Grey on my kindle after my coworkers have been hounding me to read this! Have any of you gotten hooked by this trilogy?

And finally, this week is Teacher Appreciation Week. I'm feeling very loved and appreciated by my students and classroom families, and to make a great work even better, my husband sent me this bouquet of flowers at work, he's the best! Make sure to recognize your favorite teacher out there!
