Kalimotxo

Have you ever had a Kalimotxo?  I had never even heard of this beverage until I spied it on pinterest.  At first glance it sounds a little...well...unusual, red wine + coke, I mean I never would've thought to put those two together.  But the more I think about it, I'm intrigued...  My logic: Coca cola seems to do wonders in recipes, so why not pair it with another beverage.

Have you ever made/had a kalimotxo before?

They serve this drink everywhere in Spain - especially the Basque country! And you're right - it is surprisingly delicious!

These are huge in Spain - yes, had them. They are good, but not so good if you are trying to kick the coke habit

Yes I've seen these all over in Spain as well. Americans are typically huge fans because they are one of the beverages there that come with ice!

In South Africa the locals calls it Ketemba... especially in the Western Cape Wine Country, the workers get the low quality wines by the 5litre bags and then mixes it with coke. Me, I'm a purist... or maybe I just don't enjoy sweet drinks!

it's yummy, and terrific in sweltering texas summers, when red wine is not exactly refreshing. In the same vein, but slightly different: tinto de verano (red wine + orangina)

I've never heard of it,
but pretty interesting to try
besides it sounds easy to mix,
I always have Coke and a spare of red wine.
