Dinner Last Night: Cobb Salad Pizza

Cobb Salad Pizza. YES, it's as good as it sounds. I am such a cobb salad fan, I mean how can you go wrong with tomatoes, bacon, avocado, greens, AND blue cheese?? Essentially, you take the best of a cobb salad, put it atop a pizza and voila, edible perfection.

** (Added bonus: you probably have most of these ingredients in your fridge already, SCORE!).

Nun of That

As a product of Catholic schooling, and someone who was firsthand taught by nuns I am thoroughly enjoying this birthday card. Haha.

The Girl

Has anyone read this series? In search of something to read on the plane, I picked up a copy of Stieg Larsson's critically acclaimed book The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Truth be told, the book is a little hard to get into, the plot leaps and bounds all over the place before finally settling into a groove of an understandable plot, but once that happens, it's such an intense, suspenseful ride.

Keep in mind these books are thoroughly intense, and include some depictions of gruesome, graphic violence, but even so, the story continues to be one of those I-can't-put-it-down type of thriller. I finished the 1st novel on the plane heading home from Japan, and was glued to the second book, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and am now onto the 3rd book of the Lisbeth Salander saga, The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest.

Has anyone else read these? What are your thoughts?

Dinner Last Night: Pasta with Fresh Corn Pesto

Since I got back from my trip, I've had endless blogrolls to peruse. In my "recipe" grouping, I found endless recipes I've now wait-listed to try, but this one couldn't wait. In my efforts to eat more locally, and with sweet corn being in season, I thought it only fitting to try Pasta with Fresh Corn Pesto. Unfortunately, since my kitchen is without a food processor, I couldn't blend the corn into the desired pesto, so it was chunkier than called for, but delicious all the same. The sweet corn and bacon are the essence of this pasta, and it was a delightful meal.

Meiji-Jingu Gardens

Tokyo is amazing because in the midst of dense metropolis, there are these patches of lush greenery. For example, round a bend from the Harujuku subway station, and you find yourself in a green wooded area, en route to the Meiji Jinju shrine.
Sake barrels that have been brought to the shrine to be blessed.
Pictures from the Daimyo Gardens.
The Kiyomasa well is a warm springs that gushes to the earth without being pumped. The water is sweet to taste and supposedly has healing powers.

So much to see! And we haven't even gotten to the actual Meiji Jingu shrine yet...
