Wahoo Weekend

Friday is here, it's been a long week... This weekend, I'm excited to celebrate a friend's birthday with a night o'bowling, attend a local scotch and beer festival, partake in a swinging surprise party, and if nothing else...sleep in on Sunday!

Have a good one!

Fancy a Flammkuchen?

I'm sure you're reading this going...Flam-what?? Flammkuchen, translation "flame cooked," is the German approach to pizza.

My boyfriend studied abroad in Germany in college and became enamored with this dish, essentially pizza dough with a crème fraîche base in lieu of tomato sauce, traditionally topped with garlic, caramelized onions, and bacon. Talk about delicious, right?

Since he recently moved into his own house, we decided flammkuchen would be the first meal we'd make together in his new house. We used this recipe found online, and the results were SUPERB! We devoured the thing in like 1o minutes. In addition, with yeast-less dough, the prep time wasn't too long. Now we're on a flammkuchen kick and planning our next baking endeavor, toying with the idea of mixing up the toppings! Essen wir! (Let's eat).

Modern Day James Dean?

Is Zac Efron really considered the modern day James Dean? If he is, wow...have times changed. This High School Musical phenom is the latest GQ cover boy. While I'm still debating how I feel about Zac Efron, I do like this photo shoot, he's surprisingly able to pull off the 60's swagger. His attire and slicked back hair-do remind me of Danny Zuko busting a move Grease Lightening style!images/gq

Blast From The Past

Has anyone had a chance to sample the new Pepsi Throwback? Featuring an old-school Pepsi logo instead of the modern smiling circle, the "throwback" drink will be sweetened with sugar, instead of High Fructose Corn Syrup.

I'm hoping it will have that honest-to-goodness true coca cola taste we Americans seem to prefer to go without. Back to basics, it'll be like when you buy a coke abroad and while the taste is a little bit different, but somehow simply better.

Has anyone tried it yet? Are you curious to try?

♥ Teachers

Don't forget - it's Teacher Appreciation week! Try and recognize your child's teacher for all the good that they do, trust me it might look easy, but it's hard work!

Hats Off To The Kentucky Derby

In the ultimate hat-off of the year, who wore it best? If I ever have the opportunity to attend the Kentucky Derby, I think I'll be more enthralled with the fashionable hats than the actual horse race! Personally, I think Kim Kardashian takes the cake, her hat is fantastically fab, modern, while still maintaining a chic and stylish elegance. Leanne Rimes went for the classic floppy topper, a true Southern girl. I do like the red ribbon, it goes well with her Springy dress.I'm not such a fan of Brooke Shields' hat though...
