Garnet Yams

My CSA organic produce box arrives today with bunches of edible goodness, including a vegetable that is a mystery to me...garnet yams.

In an effort to use all of the bounty that arrives in my bi-weekly box, I'm determined to actually use these...somehow. Does anyone know what to do with garnet yams? Right now, my only glimmer of an idea is usual yam-marshmallow-brown sugar Thanksgiving dish, but I'd love other ideas if you have any!

  1. I am stumped!! I am sure you can drizzle them with honey, salt and pepper and bake them with other veggies and do a vegetable bake. But, my CSA box comes every Wednesday and I've been really happy with it. YAY for edible goodness! xo

  2. I usually bake them and then mash them up like potatoes. Add butter, maybe a little cream, some honey or agave. Yum! I do the same thing with sweet potatoes.
You can make yam fries either baked or fried.

  3. make them into sweet potato fries! chop them up and you can either make them sweet with sugar and cinnamon, or put some salt and old bay on them to make them savory

  4. I know we used sweet potatoes but I can't imagine they're too much different, right? We made sweet potato burritos the other day and drizzled them with mole! It was delish.

  7. sweet potatoes are my favorite food - i usually eat one per day! i either bake them until they're super soft and just put butter on them, or roast them on high heat with olive oil and sea salt. i like to stick to simplicity since they are so delicious naturally! xox
