Books, Books, Books

I need some inspiration my dears. As you know I love to read, and I love getting recommendations for new books to check out. Unfortunately, I've read my way through most all of those recommendations, including my most recent read for my book club. So basically, I'm in need of some new titles.

Are there inspiring, interesting, or moving books you've read lately? Please let me know!

  1. Art of Racing in The Rain is one of my favorites!

This is not a new book so you've probably read it already, but I am enjoying Three Cups of Tea. Great story, and I'm amazed at this guys passion to help. Very inspiring.

  3. Not sure if you like historical novels but I recently read The Birth of Venus by Sarah Dunant. The story, which is set in Renaissance Florence, has had mixed reviews but I found it an easy and enjoyable read. Transgressions by the same author is a well crafted thriller and a book I've retruned to several times.

  4. Some of my faves this year: Let the Great World Spin, by Colum McCann. It's really good. One Day, by David Nicholls - it's being made into a movie as well. Very addicting, fast read. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society - loved this one.

  8. Anything by Jodi Picoult or James Patterson is a winner in my book. The Secret Life of Cee-Cee Wilkes is one of my favorites. If you are into chick lit at all Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella is pretty hilarious.

  10. Try Sometimes a Great Notion by Ken Kesey. It is probably the most difficult and most wonderful book I have ever read. There are several main characters and the author makes you learn each of their voices.

  11. "I was told there'd be cake" and "How did you get this number?" by Sloane Crosley. They are laugh out loud funny, and very clever!

  12. Here are a few of my favorites:

    Foucault's Pendulum (Umberto Eco)

The Art of Travel (Alain de Botton)

In the Shadow of the Wind (author escapes me at the moment)

I looooooooooooove books. Currently the only books I have time for are those related to my dissertation but, I'm looking forward to Winter Break to catch up on my reading list :)

  17. I saw that The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, Bel Canto, and Water for Elephants were all suggested. I'll put in my vote for those, too. They were all great! I'm currently reading The Girl w/ the Dragon Tattoo.
