The Belt Twist

I feel so behind on the trends. Does anyone actually buckle their belts anymore?
Everywhere I look the belt twist is happening.
And I feel a bit dorky admitting this, but as easy as this looks, I've found this stylish look is not so easy to replicate. Weird, I know. I've tried twisting, flipping, and curling various belts within my own wardrobe, but it never looks quite as effortlessly chic as these ladies...

Do you rock the belt twist? Any tips? Do tell..

  1. I wish I had tips on this, but I can't seem to get it to look right either! It's always sticks out a little too much or something.

  2. i love the look of it, but can't get it to stay. now that i'm looking at the pictures, the belts look awfully long. maybe you have to buy a size bigger so there is plenty of length to tuck in?

  3. J's Everyday Fashion does a good video on one style of the loop: http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2010/11/video-how-to-belt-cardigan_12.html
    Hope this helps!

  4. I can't master it either. Along with the casual chic look of the half tucked half untucked shirt. I don't know how people do it!

  5. I rock the belt twist because I have to. All my belts are too long! I have a red belt that I just tuck under (like this: http://instagr.am/p/KmRJY/) and I have a couple extra long ones that I tie into a twist (like this: http://instagr.am/p/KuID1/ - don't mind the circus outfit, it was for an event). I think the trick is to use a skinny belt that bends easily...

i've adapted mine to where i start with the end going through the extra loop and then wrapping around.

  9. I often do this - not out of being stylish, but out of necessity! I have no idea why I own so many belts that don't fit me correctly

  11. It's a lovely look and one I've been trying to do for ages. I always spend way too much time trying to get it right and then end up taking the belt off altogether.

  12. Haha this is trendy now? I was doing that all last year with this rad old leather belt I bought that was too large. It really is quite difficult to make it look good!
