Of course New Orleans is all about the food, and I tried to sample as much "N'Awlins" flavors as possible; po boys, gumbo, jambalaya, red beans and rice, king cake, praline candy, beignets...the list goes on. Needless to say we were stuffed all weekend!
Here's a photo recap of our adventure in New Orleans.
Colorful architecture
Beignets and cafe au lait at Cafe du Monde
St. Louis cathedral and Jackson square
touristy but worthwhile buggy ride through the French Quarter
Buying a seasonal "king cake" at Southern Candymakers
Bourbon Street at night.
Dinner at the amazing bistro, Mr. B.'s
Trolley ride on the St. Charles line to the Garden District
Walking through Tulane University's campus
fantastic street musicians
trying out hand at Mardi Gras costumes
Good times!
yay! King cake! What did you think? We went down there so much when I was growing up that my mother used to save all the babies from the cakes. She is pretty creative (and weird)...so when we would come back up to the cold midwest after a trip around the holidays, she would make meatballs and hide a baby in one of them. It was our michigan version of the king-cake idea. silly but fun. I am so glad you enjoyed yourselves! thanks for sharing the pictures!
ReplyDeleteNew Orleans has the BEST food. If I lived in New Orleans, I'd weigh at least 300 pounds.
ReplyDeleteOoo I have to try a beignet one day! New Orleans is somewhere I've always wanted to go! I can tell by your smiles that it was AWESOME!! I have to make it there one day! =)
