Eat, Pray, Love Journey

So back to my query: if you went on a Eat, Pray, Love journey where would you go?? I think if I had 1-year to go anywhere...I would split do as she did in the book, and split my time between three very different regions. I think I would start in Europe, visiting the places I haven't been yet: Ireland, the English countryside, Sweden, Portugal, the Basque Country, and then East.

Next, I would travel through SE Asia; see Angkor Wat and Phnom Penh in Cambodia, see Halong Bay in Vietnam, and travel throughout Thailand and Laos, eating all the way!

Finally, I would spend the final third of my year traveling through Peru, Argentina, and explore Patagonia.

  1. I love your journey! You should do it, and then write a book. :) Well-written travel narratives really are my fave.

  2. Hi:)
I thought about this myself a lot. Few weeks back I wrote a post about "Eat,Pray,Love" on my blog because I am a huge fan of Elizabeth and her book and it was great to see that you did too....So, if I had a whole year to travel, first I would enjoy some great views and cooking in Koh Lanta, a sleepy island in Krabi providence, off the West coast of Thailand. I heard from a friend they have those amazing cooking courses. I would love to experience the traditional ingredients like pungent galangal and palm sugar. Then I would go to Goa to the SwaSara resort. This place provides a great palette of self-discovery opportunities and I do need some help with my meditation practice (what I mean is that I stink in it, but I adore yoga and recommend to anyone). And for the last destination I would choose something raw…hmm…like old good English Countryside, maybe North Perrott for its amazing views and endless green.
Have a lovely Monday and btw: Love you blog:) and Congrats on your new roommate..My roomy and I are celebrating 8 years living together tomorrow…So I wish you both a great time:)

  3. I would stay in Italy the whole year. I've been once but it went by so quickly, I just have to go back!

  4. I'd like to spend some time traveling through Patagonia like you for the nature - I've heard many great things about Argentina and Chile. Then I'd go to northern Africa (Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt for the culture and finally take the trans-Siberia trail to discover that region.

  5. Hrm. I think I'd eat in France (Brittany, to be exact, I want plentiful seafood!), pray in Japan (not buddhism, but my personal religion/quasi religion of WabiSabi - which means time spent in teahouses), and Love in New England in a small farmhouse near the sea. Perfect :)

  6. if you do end up doing the SE Asia trip, definitely add Hanoi & Hoi An/Da Nang to the itinerary. I'm in the process of finishing Eat Pray Love...

my EPL trip would be anywhere & everywhere in Europe...

  7. Europe all the way! I haven't been yet so I would love to really explore. I want to visit, Portugal, Spain, Italy, France, Ireland, England, Austria, Prague. I would love to see India, Egypt, Brazil, Jamaica, The Bahamas, Japan(I've been on a Japan kick lately), Thailand, and wrap it up by going to my favorite vacation spot...Hawaii. I also would really like to visit New England and Alaska. I would also spend part of my year visiting family. In Pennsylvania and Texas. I think there are a lot of cool spots to see in the US. There are so many places to see! I don't know if a year would be enough time for me.
