My Top 10 Chick Flicks

I was intrigued and inspired by Lindsay's Top 10 Chick Flick movie list for Valentines Day over at La Belle Vie, so much so that I created my own list of chick-flick faves. Now of course, this is only a tiny fragment of the chick flicks I have seen, rented, or actually viewed in the theater. But these are the most memorable (in my humble opinion).
10. Serendipity - it's all up to fate in this movie. The will they/won't they find each other story line gets me every time (even though I obviously already know the ending...)9. Center Stage, I was never a ballerina, but this movie made my friends and I wish we were!
8. Bridget Jones Diary7. My Big Fat Greek Wedding
6. The Thomas Crown Affair
5. One Fine Day - I loved this duo (Michelle Pfeiffer and George Clooney)4. The Notebook - great book and a great movie3. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days2. The Cutting Edge, I LOVE this movie. Love, love, love! Also makes me wish I'd pursued a career as a professional ice skater (a little)...
1. Dirty Dancing "No one puts Baby in a corner!"

What are your fave chick flicks? Did I name any of them?

  5. I'd forgotten about The Cutting Edge. I luuuuurved that movie!

Dirty Dancing and The Notebook are definitely in my top 10. And of course Bridget Jones' Diary. Anything with Colin Firth in it makes me swoon a little bit.

My own personal faves also include:
You've Got Mail (I could watch it a million times over)
    Love Actually
Pride and Prejudice (again, with Colin Firth)
    Anne of Green Gables
Sleepless in Seattle (YOU must like that one!)
    The Time Traveller's Wife

Hmmm... Now you've got me thinking... I'm off to look through my dvd collection! AND to plan a girls' night in which we'll lounge on the couch, drink wine, eat snacks and watch our favourite girly movies! I can't wait.

  6. I saw Dirty Dancing again at Christmas for the first time in 20 years and still loved it.
I'm with Barbara for adding Love Actually and also love most films with Drew Barrymore, Meg Ryan or Sandra Bullock in (esp. The Wedding Singer, First Dates, While you were sleeping, The Proposal, City of Angels..) Actually it's harder than it looks to stop at 10!

  15. Dirty Dancing, most definitely. Also, Sense and Sensibility - although that's more just a classic love story and a gorgeous film than a cheesy chick flick...and I have always loved the movie Return to Me with Minnie Driver and David Duchovny.
    And The Sound of Music

I know there are plenty more but I can't think of them right now!

  22. Lots of great ideas I hadn't thought of...as for Love Actually, yes I LOVE this movie, but I consider it to be more of a Christmas/holiday movie than a chick flick - hence the leaving it off the top 10.
