Meow

I was just asked by a co-worker if I was interested in adopting a free 8-week old kitten...While my heart said "YES," I had my mind set on no until I saw the pictures. Cute, white, fluffy, precious little whiskered faces looking up into the camera with those take-me-home-and-love-me eyes. I am so tempted to say "yes," and jump on the pet bandwagon again since it's been a few years since my beloved cat and dog died...but still up in the air if this is a wise decision...

Thoughts? Inspiring stories about adopted pets?

  5. With a face like that how can you say No? I have adopted all of my animals and I always find they are the best loyal and greatful creatures...I don't think you would be dissapointed. Plus she looks ready to have a loving home!

  6. Go for it. Whe I was 11 we adopted a dog and cat from the SPCA. We had just moved back from Sweden, and as an only child I was really lonely. Those two changed my life. It sounds stupid, but the did, they were a part of the family. Our dog passed away about four years ago, and our cat a year an a half ago. My parents never got new pets but now my mother feels like she's ready for a new cat. If I did't have such a long commute and travel so much, I would definitely get a dog or cat. Do it!

  7. We adopted our dog (photos on my blog) about 2 years ago and I swear on all that is Holy that she makes my life infinitely better. The love that she has imbued into our household is amazing.

Our cat, who is also a rescue, is fun and full of personality.

And we are now contemplating adopting a second dog.

    I say go for it!!

  8. I've been quietly cruising Petfinder for puppies for a few weeks. I want a dog so bad! But I will probably resist. Cats seem much lower maintenance though, and this one looks like a little lover. :)

  9. I adopted two kittens a few years ago. It was the best decision I ever made. And even though I couldn't keep them because of my fiancee's severe allergies, I was able to find them a new, loving home (together). And I'm so grateful for the years I spent with them. I don't think you'll be sorry! :)

  10. My girlfriend called me one day from Petsmart where a shelter was featuring some adoptable pets and said I had to come check out a kitten. I had been told no more cats by my boyfriend. Needless to say I took one look, fell in love. That little man has made my life so much better! Same can't be said for the boyfriend that is now my ex. Ah ha.

  12. I was recently faced with a similar choice. My friend died last year & her husband decided to get rid of her beloved dog, a Malti-Poo. I have a 5 year old Pekingese (my baby) & I thought I would never get another pet. Well, when I got the call about the new dog, I said yes immediately. My girlfriend loved her dog with all her heart & I knew I had to take care of her.

Well, adopting Lilly was the best decision ever. It is all so natural & she is a darling girl who gets along great with my Peke, Louis. Sometimes, I think, these little creatures are put in front of us for a reason. I say go for it!

  13. When I moved to Ireland a couple of years ago, the previous owner's cat still lived in the yard. I never seeked to adopt an animal - she just came with the house. We became friends and I couldn't leave her behind when I moved back home to Hungary. She died this April and we all miss her terribly :-(
