Making Marilyn

Lindsay Lohan is now the latest starlet to emulate American icon, Marilyn Monroe. Shooting for upcoming New York Magazine cover feature, Lohan is sporting a perfectly coiffed blonde bob and posing nude. The shoot seeks to recreate the legendary portfolio of photographs often referred to as "The Last Sitting," taken by Bert Stern in 1962, 6 weeks before Marilyn Monroe's untimely death.

While the idea of Lindsay Lohan as Marilyn Monroe came as a surprise to me, she was reportedly handpicked for the part. I'm curious to hear your thoughts, do you think Lohan a fitting candidate to fill in for this beloved blonde bombshell?images/nymag

  1. i agree, she was a random choice. she is pretty, but self-conscious, and doesn't have any of the sex-kitten vibe that marilyn had.

still, it was an interesting photo shoot concept. and the cover of the mag was SUPER beautiful....

  2. it was a surprise- i wonder if her highly publicized stint in rehab had anything to do with it . . . .

  3. this quote sums it all up about her photo shoot:
"To think that, only two years ago, Lohan could play the ingenue without ridicule; now she's more credible as a washed-up actress on suicide watch."

  4. I also think she was an odd choice, but I think she pulled it off. not as good as the original, but then again, that would be impossible. Scarlette Johansen always gets compared to Marilyn, and I think that would have been a great photoshoot too.

  5. personally, I just don't care for Lohan at all - never have. so the photo shoot comes across as being a bit tacky to me, though the lighting and photography is wonderful.

  6. the photos didn't do the originals justice. i think it is her overall image and not her actual looks that they were going for.
